Some Quick Tips On Assembling Metal Storage Buildings

without comments

Metal storage buildings have become increasing popular over the last few decades. Homeowners usually purchase them to relieve crowding in the garage, so that they can reclaim it for their cars. The sheds are typically used as storage for things like camping gear, lawn mowers, and gardening equipment.

Most sheds found in the backyard are small to medium units that are added to increase storage space or to make a work shop. For those who need them, however, there are also buildings that can handle boats, planes, and recreational vehicles. There are even models that can provide as much space as a barn.

The most economical way to add a storage building is to assemble one yourself from a kit. The models typically used for a backyard can normally be assembled in a day with two people. However, this excludes any time needed to level the site, pour concrete, or build a floor.

You should never try to construct your building when it is windy. Floors are highly recommended, and a concrete foundation is optimal. You can, however, build a floor of wood or buy a flooring kit made for use with the kit. At minimum, clear away any debris, level the dirt, and pack it as tightly as possible.

The future steel buildings need to be placed on stable, level ground that is well drained. It will be difficult if not impossible to assemble a building on uneven ground. The doors will not work properly, and the alignment of roof supports will likely be out of place.

As you are putting the building together, you should pause frequently to check your work. It is critical that the walls are not allowed to get out of square, since this will cause problems. You will not be able to attach the roof if the rest of the structure is not in alignment. You should also be sure to keep everything level as you work, and make any adjustments needed as you go. Unless otherwise stated in the instructions included with the kit, do not anchor the building until it is completely constructed.

Before beginning, read through the instructions the manufacturer included with the future steel buildings kit. Locate necessary tools and make sure items such as electric screwdrivers are charged. Find each part listed in the instructions and if any are missing, do not begin assembly. Contact the manufacturer or retailer and obtain the needed parts first.

Weather stripping should have been included in the kit. Be sure that you apply it correctly and make sure it adheres well. Should it fail, the building will probably leak. This can not only damage whatever you store inside, but can ruin a wood floor and cause the building itself to rust.

For those who plan to use the building for garden tools, a ramp before the door is often a good idea. This lets you roll heavy items such as a mower, edger, or tiller into place without the need to lift the weight. You might also consider the use of a solar panel to provide the power for lighting the interior if you like.

Metal storage buildings do need a little preventive maintenance from time to time. An application of silicone spray on the doors every 6 – 12 months will keep them moving easily. A build up of leaves and snow atop the building can make the roof rust or sag, so you will want to clear such accumulations. Scratches should be cleaned and dabbed with paint immediately to prevent rust. Examine the building periodically for any loose screws and bolts and tighten them immediately.

Offering state-of-the-art engineering and production values, our future steel buildings are among the best in the industry. The future steel buildings come in practical and efficient designs. A wide range of future steel buildings is available at affordable prices.

Camping In An RV Is Fun

without comments

Reflecting on the past we notice that RV camping has been around a very long time. It was enjoyed a lot back then and still is now. Many memorable times can be had by families that take these camping trips year after year.

Some people consider the pioneers to be the first actual RVers that existed. It is hard to say as it has been going on for such a long time. Back then it was not the fun that it is now. They were on a very different mission than the people that go RV camping these days. There was no time for them to have fun.

Families are being found in campgrounds more often these days. Many times there are large family groups that are RV camping together in a kind of reunion sort of way. This is a great thing to see as the togetherness of families seems to get left behind over the course of time.

To enjoy an RV camping trip the first thing a person needs is an RV. There are many different types that a person can choose from, and it can be affordable if you take the time to look around. If you are handy at fixing things you may find one that just needs a bit of work.

Other than the actual investment of the trailer the costs can vary from campsite to campsite. There are tons of campgrounds around to choose from though. It all depends on what you are wanting from the campsite on what the cost will be. Hydro sites tend to cost more, but if you look around they too can be found at reasonable rates.

There are still a lot of people that want to camp the old way. They don’t need to have the hydro and things like that to be able to have a good time. They like being able to get back to the way things were many years ago when hydro was not even an option. Fishing and open fire cooking was always a enjoyable thing for these type of people.

There are campsites all over the US and Canada that are beautiful and offer a lot of great things for families to enjoy. There are playgrounds and beaches, boats that can be rented for fishing or just a tour of the lake, the things that are available at many of them are extensive. There is sure to be a site around that will cover all the things you want from a campground. Many even offer special events on holidays as well.

Once you have decided on the destination that you want, look on the internet and see what is out there for campsites. They can all be reserved online with no hassles at all. But the sites do book fast and there are even some that are booked up to a year in advance. Once you find one that you like you may choose to make it the annual spot to go enjoy your RV camping excursion.

If you want to buy an RV, but don’t want to break your piggy bank, hurry and check out these RV trailers for sale, where you could find the perfect RV auction for you!

Be Safe With Lawn Tractors

without comments

They are the most effective solution for sophisticated landscapers. Lawn tractors will help those people that don’t have much time to look after their wide expanses of grass.

Among lots of other features, they are reliable, efficient, really fast as well as simple to drive, a large amount of fun while working, what else do you need?

However, not everything is so perfect, and they can be potentially dangerous for those that don’t respect the safety requirements.

It is clear the indestructible feelings that you’re feeling when driving a giant lawn tractor are enticing. You are there, sitting on top of an amazingly strong machine which replies to

Your orders straight away. Statistical information out there say that year on year, many folks experience lawn tractor accidents due to either incorrect or dangerous use.

These are some important pointers when driving a lawn tractor :

Clear the cutting area of objects that might interrupt rune smooth work. This is a crucial step that most house owners forget. This could risk spraying objects out the side of the grass tractor, and therefore harming any one within hundred feet. Try to use blades guards in order to reduce the risk when operating those tractors designs.

Always use safety wear when operating power tools. Don’t forget to wear thick shoes and gloves if required. Wearing glasses is as easy for shielding your eyes from flying insects as well as direct impacts. You never can tell when these guards will be needed.

Always purchase quality machines and part for those machines.

If you are a pro lawn tractor driver, you could be counting on your years of expertise. In any case of your great driver talents and how responsible you’re feeling on the tractor, you can never trust machines and you must be aware all the time.

The more prepared you are for any sort of circumstance concerning accidents and safety, the better off you’ll be. If you ignore one of the little safety details when riding these machines, you’ll find for yourself that lawn tractors are not a kid’s game.

Now, reviewer Eddie Simms discusses much more regarding lawn tractors from John Deere for you to review.

The Energy Crisis And Hybrid Cars

without comments

It is said that not enough people are doing enough to fight against the energy crisis. Hybrid cars can help, but probably not enough people are driving them. Here are a few problems related to the energy crisis and how hybrid cars can help.

The U.S. isn’t doing enough really. The United States uses more fossil fuels than any other country in the world. However, most people believe that all of our energy problems can be solved if we would only investigate further into the oil deposits in Alaska or if we made full use of the latest discovery of oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hybrid cars make it so that we might not have to use other sources of energy to keep the economy afloat. Hybrid cars don’t cause Americans to use an excessive amount of fossil fuel. Instead, hybrid vehicles make Americans use less fossil fuel.

Energy consumers just accept increasing gas prices. People used to be concerned that fuel prices are much higher now than they were years ago. Now, however, people just accept the higher prices. In the meantime, cars are getting bigger and bigger. Car manufacturers are making trucks and SUV’s, which consume more petrol at the higher prices.

These vehicles use more gas, but you would never believe just how many people will not give up their gas-guzzling SUV. Hybrid vehicles do eventually cost their owners less to own than conventional vehicles do. So there is no need to be concerned about putting up with being over-charged by the oil companies.

Soon there will be an end to the “cheap oil period”. Soon, we could all be in too deep, because not only will we be in an fossil fuel crisis, but in a peak oil crisis as well. During this peak oil crisis, there will be fuel shortages and natural gas shortages too. The major countries will be forced to compete against one another for whatever small amount of fuel is left.

Therefore, everyone could have some problems, and countries may have to compete for who gets oil and who does not. The peak petrol crisis can be staved off, if more people just drove hybrid vehicles. Hybrid vehicles ensure that people are not always having to be searching for oil. Furthermore, there are advances being made to hybrid technology all the time.

The plug-in hybrid cars, for instance, might not need oil at all one day. So, just in case we do have an energy crisis, Americans should really be using the meantime to put their heads together in order to find a solution to the oil crisis in America. Hybrid cars are the way to beat the energy crisis, and if countries still want to fight each other over fuel, at least America will know they attempted to stop the impending crisis by investing in hybrid vehicles.

So, that’s it then. America’s mass adoption of hybrid cars would make it so that Americans use less petrol. But Americans also have yet to profit from the large amount of money being made from the manufacture of hybrid vehicles. The majority of popular hybrid cars come from Japan. Therefore, Americans need to bring that money back into the country by making hybrids at home and do something about the current energy crisis at the same time.

Tips On Preventing Motor Oil From Leaving Icky Stains On Your Garage Floor

without comments

I’ve written quite a few articles pertaining to garage floor coatings and coverings, but many people, I know, really don’t have much money to spend on things like that. Those of us without money, though, are the ones that are likely to be changing our own oil, which is a very easy way to stain garage floors. Some car manufacturers aren’t exactly helpful, either; I can think of a certain Subaru that I once had on which there was a plastic cover over the oil pan that was near impossible to get off without removing the front bumper cover. Of course, they included a space for the drain bolt, which made it really easy to get the bolt off, but the oil would never actually drain through that little hole, instead spraying the flooring with a nice, thick coat of used motor oil. You can imagine the mess.

Preventing Garage Flooring Stains From Happening In The First Place

I should’ve probably paid the cash to get a garage floor mat to put under it, or at the very least, a small mat for oil changes, although they may not even make a compartment mat that is large enough to protect the floor from this car’s oil sprinkler. So, of course, I ended up with a thoroughly stained and nasty looking garage floor.

Clean The Spill Up Quickly!

Getting the oil off the concrete as quickly as possible helps minimize the staining. The longer it sits, the worse it will be. Try to clean the spill with a rag or paper towel or something, and you will have a much easier time getting the stain up later. Even if it’s just a little bit of oil, the stain will be bigger and darker the longer you leave it there. Concrete, being porous, will soak in pretty much anything, but the rate at which it absorbs is fairly slow, and most chemicals that stain are on the thick side. They make crystals that will soak the chemicals up, but they can be pricy. They’re usually easy to use, though, and work just by sitting on the chemicals, but they rarely get it all. All you have to do is let the crystals sit on the spill for the specified time period, then sweep them up and toss them in the trash. Some people use kitty litter, and I tried that once, but although I didn’t get the type that was supposed to clump, it clumped anyway, and I basically had a few oily hills on my stained concrete.

You Can Always Try Garage Floor Stain Remover…

I’ve had, and heard of, mixed luck with garage floor stain removers. They seem to be hit or miss, and I haven’t heard of any cure-all. Even the best ones tend to leave a slightly visible blemish on the concrete, so I don’t know if that’s really worth it to you. They generally run around ten bucks for a bottle that’s meant to treat a smallish area, so if you have a big oil spill in your garage, you might need to find a bigger bottle.

If You Just Can’t Remove That Garage Floor Stain…

Although it’s obviously not the ideal solution, don’t forget that a garage floor covering can always be purchased later on down the road when you have the funds. They are expensive, though, but aren’t going to be affected by the same limitations as garage floor finishes. In some cases you can still use an epoxy garage floor coating as long as the floor has been cleaned to the specifications of your particular garage floor paint kit, but good luck finding one that says you can use it on stained concrete. Alternatively, there are many garage floor mats out there, and you can get some snap-together garage floor tiles, and never have to worry about the existing or future stains since all of these solutions are resistant to staining. Keep in mind, though, that peel and stick garage floor tile should not be used if you have a large stain since the stain will sweat oil that will eat at the adhesive. The oil certainly won’t come out when you want it to, but it will come right up to eat a garage floor coating or garage floor covering.

Epoxy Garage Floor Coatings Are All Over The Place

without comments

Anything that has anything to do with garage floor coatings is talking about epoxy. The browns and grays that you’re used to associating with garage floor paint are a thing of the past. Modern garage floor finishes are bright red or blue, among other colors, or even clear. Any time you see eye catching garage floors on television, they’re probably epoxy. Resin, acrylic, and epoxy are terms that are thrown around quite a lot when it comes to garage floor coatings, but most people don’t know what those actually are. Keep reading, though, and you’ll learn about epoxy and why it’s used in so many garage floor coatings.

What The Heck Is Epoxy?

You may have used “superglue” or epoxy to glue together something you would have not expected to ever have fallen apart on the whole. Now, if there was any mixing at all, then it was most likely epoxy. The reason for this is because the definition of epoxy is technically a mixture including both epoxide, where the term is derived from, and polyamine. When both of the chemicals are mixed together and then cured, the resulting compound creates a rockhard adhesive that we familiarize with epoxy. The curing phase for epoxy is varied regulated by its application or use. For garage flooring, it normally takes a few hours for the curing process of epoxy, in comparison to the adhesive epoxy, which only takes a few minutes to mix up.

Why Is Epoxy Such An Effective Garage Floor Coating

Epoxy is the most dependable and the most powerful of the assorted garage flooring alternatives. Epoxy, in its nature, withstands almost all liquids to the UV rays, and you can also count on it to withstand any or all chemicals coming from cars or whatever in the garage. But, because of its density, it is not very comfortable to sit on as mats and tiles would be, even though it’s easier on your back and your knees that just a plain ol’ concrete garage floor.

If You Want To Compare Alternative Garage Floor Coatings To Epoxy, Read This First!

If you take a look at the various garage flooring options, you’ll see some garage floor paint is labeled as water or acrylic based. These are usually also epoxy coatings, and they may or may not be mixed a bit differently with slightly different balances than those garage floor coatings that more clearly show themselves to be epoxy based. For whatever reason, it seems that some companies want to lead consumers away from thinking their products are the same as the other guys, even if they basically are. Notice that the big guys like RustOleum and Quikrete garage floor pretty clearly say that all of their coatings are epoxy.

You Guessed It, Epoxy Is Now The New Future Of Garage Floor Coatings!

Although the technology has been around for a while, epoxy is quite capable of resisting even the most destructive of chemicals. Even brake fluid, which is capable of eating clothes if left alone, will flow right off of an epoxy garage floor coating. Eventually we will probably come up with something that is so volatile that it can even destroy epoxy (battery acid from some future electric or hybrid car, maybe?), but we’re not there yet. For now, epoxy is the only garage floor coating you should need.

Good Reasons Why A Jeep Wrangler Is A Bad Choice

without comments

A lot of people love the Jeep Wrangler. A lot, but not all, since there are those who are not really interested with the great outdoors. Not only that, they also have plenty of nice reasons why people should not consider in getting the Jeep Wrangler

One of the many reasons is that the Jeep Wrangler is basically created for off-road adventures. Even though the Jeep Wrangler may look nice even on the streets of the city, chances are Jeep drivers will not like the top-down and no-doors feature if they are int he middle of the traffic. With all the combustion and heat swarming in almost every major traffic zones, you would want to consider yourself shielded from all those dangerous carbon emissions.

There are people who wouldn’t choose a Jeep Wrangler, for they would prefer something luxurious over a scruffy-looking automobile. There is no evident proof that a Jeep Wrangler is considered to be luxurious. So if there is a luxurious car that is running on your mind, then I am telling you it’s definitely its not a Jeep Wrangler.

To be able to accommodate multitudes of passengers is not a Jeep Wrangler forte, therefore making it one of the reasons not to get one. Bear in mind that this type of Jeep is designed for a lone adventurer or two, perhaps. So please say no to a Jeep Wrangler if you are looking for something that can accommodate numbers of passengers.

Obviously, the Jeep does not offer any space for luggage. It also does not feature compartments with locks. If you want a vehicle that you can haul things into, then look for a car that has a trunk compartment.

If you do not want to be sweaty or sport a windblown hair, then the Jeep is out of the equation. Bear in mind that this 4×4 vehicle is built to take on the rugged terrain. Quite simply, the Jeep Wrangler looks beautiful and performs even better off the road. You might want to consider buying a Toyota Prius if you really want to look good upon arriving in your destination.

Regardless of those disadvantages, as what I have said a Jeep Wrangler will always stay as a beauty. If you are really dedicated into buying yourself a Wrangler, then you should go ahead. No one is going to be against it.

Shiny New Epoxy Garage Floor

without comments

If you’d like to know what it would be like to drive onto your own personal auto showroom floor, you may want to give thought to an epoxy garage floor. This type of floor is not only durable, but it’s also very shiny. Imagine seeing your own car in the floor’s reflection, be it either a brand new car or your old ’76 beater that’s seen better days. An epoxy garage floor coating is viewed as the best in garage flooring to many, and for very good reason. Epoxy garage floors last a very long time, often as long as the concrete itself, though you will have to sacrifice quite a lot of time, and there is a bit of difficulty. Every once in a while the garage floor paint will have to be refreshed with a new coat, but other than that, the initial install covers most of the work. Epoxy will not move or crumple under car tires, which is a problem with some other garage floor coverings.

Tough Epoxy Garage Flooring

Epoxy is a very long lasting coating that is applied directly to the concrete. It’s more durable than any other type of covering. Normal paint absorbs grease and oils, causing it to break down and dissolve. Epoxy resists grease and oil. This is because most normal paints are oil based, while epoxy is resin based. When two oil based substances collide, they generally destroy each other by trying to break down into their original components and mix. This effect makes normal car byproducts rather destructive when it comes to painted floors. Anything petroleum based will have this effect. This includes gasoline, power steering fluid, brake fluid, motor oil, parts cleaner, grease, and many, many other things. It’s really surprising just how petroleum based our lives are. Epoxy based paints don’t have this issue, though, as they’re resin based instead of petroleum.

Old Shiny Epoxy Garage Floors

Of all the different types of garage flooring, the epoxy garage floor is unique in that it bonds with the concrete at a microscopic level. This means that once the epoxy coating is years, sometimes decades old, it can still be cleaned just like the concrete by itself. The difference is that it doesn’t stain since it doesn’t absorb the oil based chemicals that are so often found in garages. Since it doesn’t stain, it’s usually just a matter of power washing the garage floor, if that. Most chemicals will just sit on top of an epoxy coating and can be cleaned up with either a towel, or possibly pushed out of the garage with a squeegee or broom. Be careful, though, that you don’t contaminate the earth around your garage with chemicals that, before, you would’ve absorbed with kitty litter or the like and thrown in the trash. Just because it doesn’t damage your garage floor doesn’t mean it won’t damage the environment, and everything that hits your soil will eventually end up in the groundwater – that’s drinking water.

Colorful Epoxy Garage Floor Coatings

Most epoxy coatings are gray. Very shiny, very attractive gray…but still quite gray. Just because it’s gray, though, don’t think you’re not going to notice a very obvious improvement over a cement garage floor, because you definitely will. Lots of people would prefer to have some sort of color, though, and such things do exist. It’s an unfortunate fact, though, that colorful epoxy kits are kind of rare. It’s not uncommon for a hardware store to tell their customers that the only color that epoxy is available in is gray, which is not at all true. You may have to do some looking, but it’s not hard to find garage floor coating kits on the internet, and a lot of times they’re cheaper than at the hardware store. The only problem I ever have with buying things online is that it becomes such a problem if you need to do a return…but with a garage floor kit, I doubt that would be an issue.

Concrete Garage Floor No Want Epoxy!

To answer that question, you will have to do some investigating. As opposed to any other type of garage floor, Epoxy does take some preparing. Even after being prepared, though, some concrete just can’t handle an epoxy coating, for various reasons. If your concrete can take a coating, however, there’s still the matter of cleaning and etching it, which is quite tedious and very labor intensive. For those of us that aren’t in the best of shape, laying an epoxy garage floor may not be an option. There are other, simpler types of garage floors that aren’t nearly as time sensitive, such as garage floor tiles that you can stop and come back to whenever you like. There’s also smaller garage floor mats that can be moved around the garage to wherever you need them. That may be all you need. But, if your body or bank account can handle either installing or having someone install an epoxy garage floor coating, it sure would look a lot nicer, wouldn’t it?

What Makes Pocket Bikes A Favorite Among Both Kids And Adults?

without comments

What exactly is a pocket bike? The easiest and quickest answer would be to say it is a miniature motorcycle. This is why another name for pocket bikes is mini bikes. Since a mini bike is a copy of a full size motorcycle, it has all the important parts and design choices that a full size bike has. Pocket bikes are most often equipped with a four stroke gas engine, but can also be powered by two stroke engines or electric engines. Since a pocket bike is only 2 to 3 feet tall it is a popular first step into racing for kids, but powerful pocket bikes are also being raced by professional motorcycle racers.

If you care about having a stylish machine that doesn’t look like anyone elses, or simply like to customize your ride, the pocket bike world will make this very easy. To begin with, you can get the machines in a large variety of colors, patterns and designs. Add to that the ability to further customize by adding decals, changing handlebars and so on. The general design of minibikes follows real size bikes very closely. So a chopper mini bike will look like a miniature chopper, a pit bike will look like a miniature motor cross and a mini pocket rocket will look like a smaller version of a GP racing bike. A good price point for your first pocket bike would be around $350. You can get a pocketbike for much less than that, but then compromises will have to be made. Most importantly you will get a frame that is made from inferior metal alloys making it heavier and less sturdy.

Before you take your new ride out for a spin remember to check the regulation and laws in your state or country. Most places forbid the sues of pocket bikes on public roads.

As many riders unfortunately have experienced on their own skin, a pocket bike is not a toy and a fall from one without the proper safety gear can be very painful. Wear at least a helmet and preferably a full riding kit including pants, jacket, gloves, knee pads and shoes. While being safer than a real motorcycle a mini moto can still reach very high speeds. And being very maneuverable it can be easy to lose control of one.

I hope you will take these tips to heart, ride with the proper gear, and above all, have fun!

Automotive Radiator Flush Is A Simple Job

without comments

With driving every day and a hectic life style it is easy to let the little things go for a bit to long. When you are in heavy traffic and it is the worst possible time for an mechanical problem that is when it is going to happen. There are some simple automotive repairs that you can do to try to avoid trouble on the road.

A radiator flush is a very simple job that most people can do. A properly maintained cooling system is very important. It keeps the motor cool and it also helps the AC cooling system functioning correctly.

Before you begin make sure that you have the proper items for the job. The radiator flush solution and proper amount of coolant. The tools you will need are a rag, screwdriver, funnel and a receptacle for catching and storing the used coolant until it can be disposed of at a proper facility.

The first thing you need to be sure of is that the motor has had plenty of time to cool off. The last thing you want is to be burned by hot coolant. Once the radiator drain or the lower radiator hose has been removed from the radiator the fluid will drain. Take the cap off to speed up the process.

Be sure that the receptacle is positioned to catch all the engine coolant. If the coolant spills over it can be messy and lead to more clean up time. Coolant can be toxic to animals and it has a sweet taste so they will drink it if you let them and it is not good for them. The answer is do not let them drink it.

When the coolant is finished draining replace the plug or the hose which ever you removed. Then add the radiator flush and fill with water. Put the cap back on the radiator and start the motor. Turn on the heater and let the engine run. The instructions usually call for 10-15 minutes. After the motor has run for the instructed time turn it off and let the motor cool down again.

After the engine is completely cool drain the flush and water into the receptacle again. Then fill the engine with the proper amount of coolant for your area. The coolant bottle should tell you what is recommended for your climate. Some severe climates call for a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. Do not use only antifreeze in your cooling system as it is very corrosive.

There are a few simple automotive repairs that you can do yourself. Just remember to always make sure the radiator and engine is completely cool. The excess fluid should always be stored in an approved receptacle and discarded properly.
