Safety Shower Required In Work Environment
Accidental exposure can occur even when there are good safety precautions and good emergency controls in place. So, it is essential to provide safety equipment like goggles, boots, gloves, shields, and other protective equipment. Safety showers and eyewash stations must be provided to minimize the exposure to hazardous chemicals.
The first 10 seconds are critical after a person has been exposed to any hazardous substance. Any delay, even of a few seconds can cause serious injury. Safety showers can also be used to wash off corrosive contaminants from clothing and to extinguish fire from clothing. The distance of a safety shower should not be more then 50 to 100 feet from the work area. In case highly corrosive chemicals are being used then the distance from work place to the safety shower should not exceed 20 feet. There should not be any obstacles on the way from the work area to the safety shower.
The protection shower should have a diameter of at least 20 inches so that the whole body is sprayed with the shower and not just the head. The security shower should be designed such that it gets turned on in a second. The knob, lever, or button to turn on the protection shower should be clear. The flushing fluid in the safety shower should either be drinkable water, preserved water, or any medically suitable solution.
There should be sufficient amount of water in the safety shower to allow the user to shower for at least 20 minutes. The water temperature in a safety shower should be lukewarm and the water pressure should be stumpy. High temperature and high pressure showers can be damaging. For mild irritants a minimum 5 minutes shower is suggested. For reasonable to stern irritants and non incisive corrosives the shower time should be increased to 20 minutes. For piercing corrosives the time should be 60 minutes.
A fresh pair of coveralls and foot wear should be available in the safety shower area. The safety showers should be checked periodically to ascertain they are in working condition. An automatic alarm should be triggered when a safety shower is in use and standby medical attention should be activated.
Laboratories, high dust areas, hazardous substance filling and dispensing areas, and where spraying is done should have safety showers installed. The safety showers should be installed close to an exit, and on the same floor where the work is being done.
The amount of security showers compulsory to be installed in a work place will hinge on two factors. First, how high are the chances of workers getting into an accident? Secondly, how many workers work in that area? The confined safety board and their practice should be followed in making this conclusion. The safety shower equipment to be installed and what flushing fluid to use may be coordinated by the local safety board.
In any unsafe working milieu, safety showers are the second line of security. Therefore, they should be treated like any other safety gear which means that their preservation, cyclic checks, and refilling etc must be regulated. Security showers can make the variation between a minor wound and a victim.

ATV YAMAHA RHINO: A Hidden Danger of ATVs Profile
The Yamaha Rhino ATV (all terrain vehicle) is a popular choice for those who enjoy outdoor recreational activity. The dangers of ATVs, however, are becoming more widely known. Billed as fun vehicles the whole family can enjoy, ATVs are being criticized more and more by many groups. Some of the noted groups speaking out against the dangers of ATVs include the American Academy of Pediatrics, Safe Kids Worldwide and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Two Hidden Dangers of ATVs the Industry Doesn’t Want You to Know About
Design Flaws: What makes many ATVs such as the Yamaha Rhino so dangerous are their design flaws. With a narrow wheel base and a high center of gravity, they are prone to tipping over. This can be particularly dangerous when riding models such as the two-seater Yamaha Rhino because it is larger than most ATVs. Larger means heavier, so if it tips over, it can cause a much more severe injury – literally crushing a rider to death, for example — than a lighter ATV.
Insufficient Safety Equipment: Most ATVs aren’t sufficiently outfitted with safety equipment. In case of an accident, this can be particularly serious, especially to children. Minors, by their very nature, are prone to riding without safety equipment – even when it is available.
Often severe injuries occur on a Yamaha Rhino when drivers and passengers instinctively put their arms and legs outside of the vehicles when they tip in order to brace for a fall. Consequently, many deaths and catastrophic injuries have resulted from riding a Yamaha Rhino ATV.
YAMAHA RHINO ATV: Safety Tips for You and Your Child
Regulate Engine Size: Many experts urge consumers to limit engine size, especially if children will be using the ATV. We know now that ATVs with an engine larger than 90 cubic centimeters should not be ridden by younger, carefree riders. It’s just too risky. Wear Protective Gear: Wearing safety equipment is probably the best way to stay safe on ATVs. This is particularly true in the case of models such as the two-seater Yamaha Rhino, which often has no doors. Protective gear that should be worn includes helmets, goggles and over-the-ankle boots to protect against burns.
