What Makes Pocket Bikes A Favorite Among Both Kids And Adults?

without comments

What exactly is a pocket bike? The easiest and quickest answer would be to say it is a miniature motorcycle. This is why another name for pocket bikes is mini bikes. Since a mini bike is a copy of a full size motorcycle, it has all the important parts and design choices that a full size bike has. Pocket bikes are most often equipped with a four stroke gas engine, but can also be powered by two stroke engines or electric engines. Since a pocket bike is only 2 to 3 feet tall it is a popular first step into racing for kids, but powerful pocket bikes are also being raced by professional motorcycle racers.

If you care about having a stylish machine that doesn’t look like anyone elses, or simply like to customize your ride, the pocket bike world will make this very easy. To begin with, you can get the machines in a large variety of colors, patterns and designs. Add to that the ability to further customize by adding decals, changing handlebars and so on. The general design of minibikes follows real size bikes very closely. So a chopper mini bike will look like a miniature chopper, a pit bike will look like a miniature motor cross and a mini pocket rocket will look like a smaller version of a GP racing bike. A good price point for your first pocket bike would be around $350. You can get a pocketbike for much less than that, but then compromises will have to be made. Most importantly you will get a frame that is made from inferior metal alloys making it heavier and less sturdy.

Before you take your new ride out for a spin remember to check the regulation and laws in your state or country. Most places forbid the sues of pocket bikes on public roads.

As many riders unfortunately have experienced on their own skin, a pocket bike is not a toy and a fall from one without the proper safety gear can be very painful. Wear at least a helmet and preferably a full riding kit including pants, jacket, gloves, knee pads and shoes. While being safer than a real motorcycle a mini moto can still reach very high speeds. And being very maneuverable it can be easy to lose control of one.

I hope you will take these tips to heart, ride with the proper gear, and above all, have fun!

Yamaha YZF-R6 Motorcycle

without comments

Motorcycles are a rite of passage for most young boys. It is the first true freedom they find to get out and go places and literally the first motorized vehicle many of them own because of the economics involved in owning a vehicle and the fact that most young boys are not well off financially.

One sporty and fast bike is the Yamaha YZF-R6 (more commonly referred to as R6), which has great looks and performance. The bike is blazingly fast for it’s class and should excite almost anyone who is lucky enough to ride one. Yamaha claimed that the R6 has a Max RPM of 17500, but it’s known to be in the 16800-16900s, which should be more than sufficient to most people.

The Yamaha R6 has a 600 CC engine styled as a 4 stroke with 16 valves and is liquid cooled, with dual overhead cams and new model utilizes titanium valves. It has fuel injection and a six-speed transmission. The nearly 5 gallon tank allows for a decent cruising range and the dry weight is only 366 pounds so it should be easy to maneuver.

The styling is like traditional racing bikes and most people will like the appearance of it. It’s a great looking machine, and the almost immediate success of it was introduced back in 1999 and it continued success today shows signs of that, ten years later.

These machines maintain their value and resell fairly well which makes them an anomaly in the motorized vehicle industry where only a handful of vehicles actually maintain worth. There is also a huge following out there of people who enjoy customizing this bike and so there is a plethora of after market accessories available for the bike so you can truly take the production machine, which is no slouch to look at, and make it an extension of your own personality by adding or subtracting parts that show who you are.

Do you want to redesign your Yamaha R6? No problem! There is available almost everything like replacement fairing, bar ends, exhaust, seats, mirrors and lights. Most parts are bolt on and all you have to do is remove the old and replace with the new. That makes changing your look easy, sweet and fast. A new look every season is within grasp! That would surely impress all your friends.

No matter what, the Yamaha YZF-R6 is a motorcycle that will allow you to look as good on it as it looks sitting there all alone and will get you from here to there in style.
