Jugs And Strokers Tearing The Motorcycle World Apart

without comments

A few weeks back I received an email from a girl Kim about a Charity Motorcycle event she was working on for Bide A Wee an Animal shelter I worked at when I was younger. As I read the info I was looking forward to attending the event only to find it was being held at Jugs and Strokers the only “Biker Bar” on Long Island that does not allow Motorcycle Club Colors. I was pissed to find out I would not be welcome at this event. I then saw the email had been sent out to many other Motorcycle Clubs on Long Island. Pissed Off, I started writing a reply to the email and sent it out to the MC’s here on Long Island. Here is what I wrote.

Hey everyone this is LJ James.

You may not know this but I worked at Bide A Wee in Wantagh for many years. I have some great memories of my time working there. As much as I love the place and think Bide A Wee to be a truly great organization, I will not take off my Colors to go inside Jugs & Strokers to attend this event.

I see this email is addressed to many different Clubs. Some of your beliefs may be different then mine and you may take your Colors off to attend this event. I would hope all of you have more respect for your Club then to do that, but these are my beliefs and may not be yours.

I think it is only fair to Kim who is working very hard for this very worthy cause that she know what your feelings are about the Jugs and Strokers policy in regards to Colors. Kim has spent a lot of time working on this event and I would hate to see her event fail because she is unaware of the Revulsion Jugs and Strokers has towards Motorcycle Clubs!!!

Not only is it an old out dated Policy that promotes the Division of Motorcycle Riders, it is also illegal according to NY State Law! I have been working hard to protect and promote Motorcycle Rights and Unity here in NY and world wide. I think it is time We started working hard to change what is wrong here on Long Island! There is an old saying, “if you want to fix the world start in your own back yard”.

This is an event that, when I heard about it I wanted to attend. Then I hear it is being held at Jugs and now I am “not allowed to attend”.

I am not a bad guy! You all out there know me. How many of your events have I covered in Magazines? How many of you have I DJed for? Not only your Club events but many of your personal family events! I’ve even preformed wedding ceremonies for a few of you and after I married you I Djed your wedding!!!

You too are also all good people. Your MCs have done many things to make Long Island a better place. You have fed the Hungry, Clothed the poor, and made sure every Child on Long Island had a Toy for the Holidays. Our patches stand for what is great about America! Why should we be made to feel that wearing our Colors is even the slightest bit wrong?

If you ask Jugs and Strokers, they might try to use the excuse “well its not your group its other groups who are the bad guys”. That is a cop out, a lie, and an attempt to divide the Long Island Motorcycle Club world!!!

Over the past few years here on Long Island we have seen a Unity in the Motorcycle Club World that many still can not believe. Sport Bike Clubs and Cruiser Clubs riding and hanging together. AMA Clubs and 1% Clubs attend each others events. Law Enforcement Clubs and Outlaw Clubs Breaking Bread and Drinking together at events. I have seen every type of rider hanging out together. This is the Biker dream people!!!

There was a time when we were all told that you could not have a bar on Long Island where all MCs where aloud to mingle together. That there would be nothing but fights and problems. Then JDs Place opened and shortly after that, the Myth was put to rest.

The Motorcycle World here on Long Island has become something We are all very proud of. I call out to all of you MCs, independents, and MROs like ABATE, it is time to end the humiliating practice that Jugs and Strokers has been aloud to inflict upon the Long Island Motorcycle World for far too long!!!

I am tired of this bar being allowed to claim it is a biker bar for bikers, but if your a member of a Motorcycle Club and wear your Colors, you are some how an undesirable, and unwelcome. I say time is up, Jugs and Stokers! You have made enough money off the Long Island Motorcycle world! You need to stop being part of the Problem and become part of the Solution!!!

I’m interested to know what the feelings are of the rest of you!!!

(Because of this reply, Shortly after I wrote this the event was switched to another Long Island Biker Bar “Sick Moon Saloon” That welcomes all who Ride)

Discrimination On The Basis Of Clothing Or Club Membership Is ILLEGAL Article I, Section 11 of the New York State Constitution states “that no person shall be denied the equal protection of the laws of this state or any subdivision thereof.” Article 4, Section 40 of the Civil Rights Law provides that “all persons within the jurisdiction of this state shall be entitled to the full and equal accommodations, advantages, facilities and privileges of any places of public accommodations, resort or amusement subject only to the conditions and limitations established by law and applicable alike to all persons.” The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that individuals have the constitutional right under the First Amendment to wear clothing which displays writing or designs. Cohen v. California, 403 US 15 (1971). In addition, the right of an individual to freedom of association has long been recognized and protected by the United States Supreme Court. Thus, a person’s right to wear the clothing of his choice, as well as his right to belong to any club or organization his choice is constitutionally protected, and persons or establishments who discriminate on the basis of clothing or club membership are subject to a lawsuit.

How Honda became Number One with Car Buyers in Pakistan

without comments

Hondas appearance on the Pakistani car market caused considerable excitement about thirty odd years ago. People looked whenever a Honda drove by on the streets and car buyers couldnt wait to drive their own Civic or Accord, even if it did mean spending a bit more. While models by other car manufacturers offered standard, frugal features and plain shapes, Honda offered more trims, luxury, and world-class designs repeatedly.

Long before Honda arrived on the car scene in Pakistan, Toyota had introduced several well-established and highly popular models in the automotive industry. Brands like Corona, Corolla, Crown and Mark II were leaders in their own class with other manufacturers like Mazda, Suzuki and Nissan had only a few models serving as poor competition. Toyota had an image of being a highly dependable car that could be resold for high prices in the used car market. Consumers favored Toyota for its practical value and a poor choice of similar cars.

Companies and car buyers saw Honda as an opportunity to possess both luxury and reliability. Hondas models had additional features and trims like a power steering and lamps, which other competing car manufacturers did not offer at the time. Out of the blue Honda had a significant presence on the urban roads and highways in Pakistan and became a widely acknowledged and sought after vehicle. Toyota faced a decline in sales, but managed to retain a substantial portion of the market unlike the other less fortunate manufacturers who were fighting to stay afloat.

The exquisitely designed exterior and interior of the Honda were difficult qualities for other car manufacturers to compete with, permitting Honda to stay ahead. With a spacious and comfortable interior and fabric seats, intra and inter city traveling became more enjoyable than before. Honda introduced the City in Pakistan to compete effectively in the 1300cc engine capacity market, and once more managed to gain market share from its well established rival, the Corolla. Seeing its success, Honda soon started production of its cars in Pakistan, to better manage its price competitiveness.

Honda earned a reputation of a reliable and fuel-efficient car due to its meticulous and high standard engineering. The beautifully fabricated engines provided users with a feeling of driving a larger, more powerful car, adding further value to their experience. Due to the minimal maintenance and its reliability, the demand for used Honda shot up and drove the resale prices closer to those commanded by Toyota. Unlike competing cars, which depreciated considerably in value, Honda was now being resold at higher than average prices.

Honda has quickly developed a remarkable reputation for fuel efficiency, dependability and a dramatic look and feel. With an impressive track record, it seems like Honda will be leading the new and used automotive industry for a considerable period of time, in spite of efforts by competitors to launch a range of new models. Well done.

A lost Sense of Freedom

without comments

Whenever a person or group of people try to live their lives free, those who are stuck in unhappy lives will be jealous. Some people have a hard time letting go, freeing themselves from the day to day trials and tribulations of everyday life even for a little while. Others seek an escape from the stress and anxiety often associated with modern day life. I guess for me, that’s part of why I am a Biker. There is something about riding a bike that inspires a sense of freedom in me. The open road, the wind in my face, the smells, getting back to nature, the power of my bike. It’s all these things and more that make me feel free. It’s unfortunate that there are some people who, for whatever reason, can’t find something or someway to let go and experience the sense of freedom that we do. These people, for whatever reason, are the ones who point to us and call us rogues or rebels. They say that what we are doing is wrong and that our culture is a “disruptive influence.”

As Bikers, we live our lives a little differently. We work and have responsibilities, but we still know the feeling of freedom. Maybe its because we smile just a bit more and are a bit more relaxed that turns these people green with envy? A person who works hard and has no free time sees a person on the road riding his or her motorcycle and thinks “I wish that was me!” The thought of being free doesn’t leave their mind. They long for it. They crave it badly! How many of you out their have had a friend tell you how they have always wanted to buy a Motorcycle and just go out riding? How many of them ever actually do?

Here is a typical story : A man is driving home from work when he see’s a group of motorcycle riders pull up next to him. He looks at this group of people riding together having a great time, He starts to think, “I wish that was me”. He then decides, “I’m going to buy a Motorcycle!” He starts thinking about riding. How great it will be to have his wife on the back of his bike and the wind in his face. We could ride up to the lake or maybe that little motel way up in the Mountains. Thinking of the great times he will have he starts to feel that small sense of freedom. He thinks “This must be what those Biker get to feel, Wow!” He turns into the driveway, parks his truck and rushes into the house to tell his wife about his fantastic idea. “Hi honey, I’m going to buy a Motorcycle.” His wife looks at him and says “What? Did you get overwhelmed by the fumes at work again?” “You can’t ride a Motorcycle. The man answers back, “I’ll learn!”

“You must be crazy”, she says. “Those things are death traps! You will kill yourself and we can’t afford it!” “Honey this is something I really want” replies the man. “NO NO NO!!! I won’t have one of those things in my house! What kind of message would it send to the kids, our neighbors?” They argue about it, but it the end, the man never gets his motorcycle. He never goes to the lake with his wife or takes that trip up to the little motel in the mountains. He never feels the real sense of freedom one can only get when taking a long trip on a motorcycle. He spends the rest of his life wishing he had never seen that group of Motorcycles. He is angry and bitter.

Now when he see’s Bikers he puts them down. He hates Bikers, not because of who or what they are, but because of what he can never be. He hates them because of what they represent. They represent a kind of freedom, sense of belonging, a oneness with nature and the world that he longs for, he craves, but can never have. We live here in America, the home of the free, but many are not free. They have never experienced the sense of freedom that can only be experienced on two wheels and, for whatever reason, never will. They live boring, uneventful. “safe” lives and complain about those who don’t.

Don’t hate these envious people, pity them for they will never know the sense of freedom and brotherhood we get from riding with a group of our Bro’s. They’ll never know the wind in their face, the feeling of peace and oneness with nature we feel as we ride threw the country side or down a long lonely highway. They’ll never know the clarity of mind that comes from a long ride alone or the closeness and bond of a long ride or weekend away with someone special. Just thank your higher power that you’ve found a way to escape, a way to be free, even if it’s just on the weekends.

Ride Safe and Ride Free because when it all come down to it, this is all about the Ride! Your Bro L.J. James AmericanBikerX.com Listen to LJs Radio Show at BikerLowDown.com

The Value Of Honda Automobiles

without comments

Honda Automobiles Video

Believe it or not, but Honda makes some of the best cars in the world.  That explains the popularity of Honda automobiles.  These autos are made to some of the highest standards of any cars.  That’s even compared to more expensive cars in the same class.  When a person buys a Honda automobile, they’re buying quality and reliability.

The Honda Civic is an excellent vehicle.  This model comes in highly popular sedan, coupe and even hybrid versions.  The Civic ranges in price from around $15K to the mid 20′s.  This car is also one of the best when it comes to gas mileage.  36 MPG highway for the coupe and sedan is only surpassed by the hybrids 46 MPG.  Both will save money at the pump, but keep in mind that the hybrid mileage is offset by the extra cost and the cost of a replacement battery likely needed after 3-5 years.

Honda Civic retains its value.  It’s also a pleasant surprise when the offer comes for a trade in.  For someone who follows the maintenance schedule, it’s realistic to spend only a few thousands dollars every few years for a new Civic.  For people who like driving new cars all the time, that’s a great deal.

Often, folks aren’t looking to sell.  Retained value comes from the fact that the cars hold up well over time.  Maintenance is the key.  The Civic can run for 20 or more years if it’s well cared for.  That’s a long time for a well running car.  It becomes a part of the family.  And there are a lot of other things to do with money other than buying or repairing vehicles.

Another nice Honda car is the Element.  The compact SUV is a great value.  Adventurous people find this car a perfect fit.  Most of the interior is rubber, along with cloth seats and a plastic dash.  This isn’t just done to save costs.  It was done so the car is easy to clean.  You can hose down the interior when it’s dirty.  Your eyes aren’t deceiving you, yes a hose  Leather may seem nice until the car is actually put to use.

The popularity of Honda automobiles is well placed.  It comes from quality.  Make Honda your next automobile purchase.Another nice Honda car is the Element.  The compact SUV is a great value.  Adventurous people find this car a perfect fit.  It has rubber throughout the interior.  At first this seems to scream cheap, but there’s a method to the madness.  It was done so the car is easy to clean.  You can hose down the interior when it’s dirty.  Yes, a hose, inside the car.  That can’t be done if the dash is fancy wood.

Honda cars are popular for a reason.  Their quality creates that popularity.  Whether looking for a new or used car, consider a vehicle from Honda.

The Value Of Honda Automobiles

Honda Automobiles Video

Believe it or not, but Honda makes some of the best cars in the world.  Consumers reward that by making Honda automobiles the most purchased cars in many classes.  These cars have some of the best engineering in the world, along with some of the best manufacturing standards.  Even some more pricey cars in the same class don’t surpass them.  Quality and reliability describe Honda well.

The Civic is one of Honda’s excellent vehicles.  With models from a sedan to a coupe and even a hybrid version, many people purchase and drive this model.  The Civic ranges in price from around $15K to the mid 20′s.  Gas mileage is also a strong suit.  36 MPG highway for the coupe and sedan is only surpassed by the hybrids 46 MPG.  Both will save money at the pump, but keep in mind that the hybrid mileage is offset by the extra cost and the cost of a replacement battery likely needed after 3-5 years.

The Honda Civic car also has one of the best resale values in the automotive industry.  People who buy them new are often pleasantly surprised when it comes time to sell or trade in for a new model.  For someone who follows the maintenance schedule, it’s realistic to spend only a few thousands dollars every few years for a new Civic.  Some people like new cars every few years, so that’s fantastic.

Many people like to hold onto their car.  Retained value comes from the fact that the cars hold up well over time.  Maintenance is the key.  If well maintained the car can be around in 20 or even 30 years.  That’s a long time.  It gets to be your friend, not only your car.  There are better ways to spend money than buying cars every few years.

The Honda Element is also nice.  This small sized SUV is a real bargain.  People on the go love this vehicle.  It has rubber throughout the interior.  At first this seems to scream cheap, but there’s a method to the madness.  Easy cleaning was the goal.  Get sand in there from a trip to the beach, and it can be washed away with a hose.  Your eyes aren’t deceiving you, yes a hose  That can’t be done if the dash is fancy wood.

Honda automobiles are popular for a reason.  It comes from quality.  Think about a Honda for your next car.The Honda Element is also nice.  The compact SUV is a great value.  People on the go love this vehicle.  Most of the interior is rubber, along with cloth seats and a plastic dash.  At first this seems to scream cheap, but there’s a method to the madness.  The interior is designed to be easy to clean.  You can hose down the interior when it’s dirty.  Yes, a hose, inside the car.  Try that with leather.
